Upper Keys Sailing Club
Saturday, February 1st
We dinghy'd to the Upper Keys Sailing Club last night. The clubhouse was open from 1800 - 2200. After introducing ourselves to the Commodore, we ordered sundowners and toured the property. Lots of trailer boats, Hobie catamarans, a full marina, and well kept grounds. We met a few people and was greeted by a couple, Jim & Cheryl, that raced with us in the 2006 Abacos Regatta. What a pleasant surprise! The evening passed too quickly, but we were back aboard Imagine early enough for Friday night pizza. It's become a tradition. It's never the same, and it's always better than the last time.
For a long time, I have intended to wrap Imagine's wheel. I bought the cord for the project years ago. I started on it early Friday morning and finished it Saturday afternoon. Overall, it took about six hours.
I awoke to birds singing this morning, and our sunrise was heavenly. After checking the engine and transmissions (yes, two), and diving the propeller we raised anchor to be on our way to Lignumvitae Key. https://www.floridastateparks.org/LignumvitaeKey
It was advertised to have free mooring balls that no longer exist. There's not much to see once ashore though, but the mosquito greeting party makes up for it all. I've wanted to go there for a long time. In the end, it was rather disappointing.
We ended our day anchored off Lower Matecumbe Key. BBQ burgers and a potato casserole cooked on the grill hit the spot as we watched the sunset.

Happy sailing!! Sorry to hear about your alternator problem. What are your plans for fresh water?? This is Terry
